My approach to counselling

I work integratively — drawing from several evidence-based approaches and tailoring each session to what feels right for you, not a fixed script.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT helps us understand the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. Together we identify unhelpful patterns and gently develop new ways of responding — practical tools you can use beyond the therapy room.

Psychodynamic Therapy

Psychodynamic work explores how past experiences and unconscious patterns shape who you are today. By bringing these into awareness, we create space for deeper, more lasting change — not just managing symptoms but understanding their roots.

Mindfulness-Based Approaches

Mindfulness helps you develop a kinder, more present relationship with your inner experience. Rather than fighting difficult thoughts or feelings, you learn to observe them with curiosity and compassion — reducing their power over you.

Humanistic / Person-Centred Therapy

In this approach, you lead. I offer a warm, non-judgmental space where your pace and priorities always come first. Rooted in the belief that you hold the capacity for growth, this work supports you in reconnecting with your own wisdom.

Hypnotherapy — a complementary tool

Alongside counselling, I am qualified in clinical hypnotherapy. For some clients, it can provide additional support for specific challenges such as anxiety, pain management, sleep difficulties, phobias, and Glossophobia (fear of public speaking). We discuss together whether it may be helpful for you.

Meet Hajnal Loskot

I’m a psychotherapeutic counsellor based in Haslemere, Surrey, UK — working with adults both in person and online. My practice is a space where you can slow down, be honest, and begin to make sense of whatever you’re carrying.

I came to this work because I believe that being truly heard — without judgement, without being told what to do — is itself deeply healing. I draw from several therapeutic traditions so that I can follow your lead, rather than fitting you into a predetermined approach.

I hold accredited membership of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (MNCPS Acc.) and am registered on the PSA Accredited Register, which means my training, ethics, and practice meet independently verified professional standards.
